Getting Here
All very well, McGregor sounds like a lovely, exciting place, but where is it. Well, it's sort of the middle of nowhere, on a road that never quite happened. So saying, the best way to get here is by road!
If you're starting from Cape Town, take the N1 north as far as Worcester. Turn right, following the signs to Robertson (take the R60). When you reach Robertson, turn right again, following the sign to McGregor. After 15 minutes or so you'll be in the village. If you're coming from the Johannesburg direction, it's much the same except you take the N1 south, and turn left at Worcester...
If travelling under your own steam, the following chart of distances may be of help:
Beauf W
441 km
Robertson
21 km
Caledon
105 km
Swellendam
87 km
Cape T
171 km
Worcester
71 km
Montagu
46 km
Should you be arriving by aeroplane, the nearest major airport is Cape Town International. All the major car rental companies are represented there, making it easy for you to arrange transport to McGregor.
Once you're in the village, the best way to get around is by foot. If, however, you want to go a little further afield, there are several places where you can rent mountain bikes - and these provide one of the finest ways to see the surrounding countryside.

The McGregor Museum
The modest Museum in McGregor shares a characteristic with the rhenosterveld which surrounds this charming village on the edge of the Little Karoo. At first glance, it appears deceptively low key, yet there is a wealth of interest here for those with time to look and delve a little deeper.
Important historical material and artefacts crowd its shelves and cabinets, on the left hand side of the Tourism Office in the National Monument building in Voortrekker Street.
One is an authentic King James Bible (bearing Rob Roy's signature) which
