Situated on the corner of Barry and Meul Streets, just as you enter the village of McGregor, Fountain Place is housed in one of the oldest buildings in the village. Built in 1862 and classified as a National Monument, this traditionally whitewashed and thatched building exudes a sense of warmth, comfort and friendship, along with its traditionally reeded ceilings and painted bedroom floors.

And now, for those of you with young families, or those who simply like to “do your own thing”!!, Mark and Jane have a further option - two self catering cottages, situated only 5 minutes walk from the guesthouse. These are charming and self contained, with a relaxed and casual atmosphere. Pets are welcome and families with young children will be able to relax whilst the children have the freedom to run around and play in the nearby pool.
What can we offer you at Fountain Place?
- Two guest suites, comprising a queen-size (or twin) bedroom with built-in fireplace, private lounge and Victorian-style en-suite shower room. Each bedroom looks out onto the garden and each lounge has its own private entrance onto the central vine-covered stoep.
- Tea and coffee-making facilites and bar fridge.
- DSTV in the communal lounge (together with a large fireplace for those chilly days).
- Off-road parking.
- Continental and English breakfasts (special dietary requirements catered for upon prior request).
- Braai area (and facilities).

Plum Tree Cottage - sleeps up to 6 people (1 double, 2 singles and 2 ‘daybeds’). Comfortably furnished open-plan lounge with large fireplace. Well-equipped kitchen/dining area. Large full bathroom (including separate shower). Attractive main bedroom with thatched open ceiling. Stoep with wonderful views and braai facilities.
Almond Cottage - quaint and very rustic sleeps up to 4 people (1 double and 2 singles). Main bedroom with en suite shower and separate bathroom. Open-plan lounge with small fireplace. Cosy kitchen/dining area. Spacious stoep and built-in braai.
Bedlinen provided at both cottages and food packs available on pre-order.
Guesthouse Tariffs and Specials
Standard rate R395 per person sharing per night (including breakfast)(R450 solo) [Until 1st March 2010 our old rates apply - R350 per person sharing per night (R400 solo)]
Long weekend special You will definitely want to stay more than one night (probably more than two or three!!!), so Mark and Jane would like to offer you a third night for free if you book for a two-night stay over a weekend. How can you refuse??
Weekday special Well, why should those lovely romantic and relaxing breaks just be limited to a weekend? Sometimes, it isn’t always possible to get away over a weekend, is it? What about surprising your loved one, or friend with a spontaneous few days away at a special rate of R350 per person sharing per night. Again, if you want to extend your stay, Mark and Jane will offer you a third night for free. What a bargain!!!
