Sylvia’s Wedding

The Romantic Event of the Year
Become a part of a story Of finding love amongst the ashes - 21.June 2008

Sylvia and RickyOnce upon a time……… and so a fairytale begins………fair-ly, far, far away over the mountains, Sylvia was visiting friends. There she met a man and magic touched them…… but all too soon she had to return to her home in “the village where time stood still”.  For many months she neither saw him nor heard from him - though she remembered him and, unbeknownst to her, he too couldn’t get her out of his mind.

Time passed ..........

..........and Ricky Jacobs, for that was he, traversed the mountains to find the woman he wanted for his bride. Sylvia blushes and giggles when she recalls how this man she thought she’d never see again, suddenly walked through her front door.

Sylvia’s life has not always been easy. As a young girl, she left her parental home in a farm cottage and moved with her first husband to McGregor, where she gave birth to 2 beautiful children. Disaster struck 5 years later in 1999. Her husband died at sea in a heroic attempt to save 12 of his shipmates’ lives, leaving her penniless and with little education. Against all odds, defying loneliness, poverty and illness, Sylvia survived to care of her children.

Sylvia and Ricky and the ruined house

Then…… whilst cooking late one afternoon in 2005…… Sylvia noticed smoke. She had just enough time to grab her two eight month old children and run to safety, but could do nothing to save her home or possessions. She is still trying to get compensation.

Sylvia has an indomitable, bubbling spirit and a tremendous zest for life. She deserves and has earned every happiness. After a 7 year courtship, and the birth of twins, Sylvia and Ricky are entering Holy Matrimony.
