African Queen

Image

The African Queen studio is a small cottage industry in Mcgregor producing high quality hand-painted caftans.

Four women from the local previously disadvantaged community have been trained to cut and sew the garments. Two of these women are also involved in the painting. We encourage initiative and responsibility - team spirit is our theme.

ImageThe designs are taken from nature, incorporating ethnic motifs, and each garment is individually handpainted. The beadwork is all simulated using fabric paint, and everything is cured, producing a permanent dye fix and a very user-friendly article which can be machine-washed, tumble-dried and lightly ironed. Light and comfortable, our caftans, of 100% natural viscose, are the ideal solution for hot african summers, making an elegant statement on any figure.

Our business has been in existence since July 2000 and has consistently expanded. As well as selling locally, we supply various outlets in South Africa. Our focus is on high quality craftsmanship, unique design and efficient service.

All garments are available in sizes S, M, L, XL and XXL in colours Black, Sand and Sunset. Prices range from ZAR???.00 to ZAR???.00 excluding packaging and shipping.
